Hackers on Planet Earth (HOPE)

Yet another conference this summer! I think that hacker interests in privacy and librarian interests are not too far off (or as M claims, growing closer and closer--I hope so). I'm excited for these talks (in addition to seeing a sea of hackers all together):

"Towards Open Libraries and Schools" with Ellen Meier, Gillian ‘Gus’ Andrews, Jessamyn West

"Monkeysphere: Fixing Authentication on the Net" with Daniel Kahn Gillmor, Jameson Rollins

"Net Wars Over Free Speech, Freedom, and Secrecy or How to Understand the Hacker and Lulz Battle Against the Church of Scientology" with Finn Brunton, Gabriella Coleman

"Burning and Building Bridges: A Primer to Hacking the Education System" with Christina ‘fabulous’ Pei

"Content of the Future" with Greg Newby and Michael S. Hart

"The DMCA and ACTA vs. Academic and Professional Research: How Misuse of This Intellectual Property Legislation Chills Research, Disclosure, and Innovation" with Chris Mooney and Tiffany Rad
